We have had a pretty chilled last couple of days. The day before yesterday dad went out fishing at the crack of dawn (they left in the dark)and came back loaded with three HUGE fish, all Tuna. 2 yellow fin and 1 Bonito. As you can imagine we are up to our ears with fish and that night we had some delicious tuna shashmi (raw fish) with soysauce, wasabi and of course dads favorite, pickled ginger. The food has been great and we are eating such good fish curries and potatoes and rice (although i still crave some spaghetti bolognaise or an apple). Yesterday we had SUCH a good lunch with homemade bread, tuna steak with lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes and mayo. We have a housekeeper named Delnhia who produces all of this amazing food from local produce. Fish from the sea and fruit and vegetables from the villagers gardens and eggs from the local chooks. We are eating lots of paw paw, bananas and pineapple and of course coconuts. Yesterday we had a lazy day starting with darc, mum and dad going for a swim at the tree then coming back and having lunch. Dad is being taught by a local man named Kotsi how to spearfish and Dad being the most stubborn person on the planet goes for spearfish after spearfish really wanting to get something. Dad spent almost whole of yesterday out there and didn't come back until after dark, he's that determined. The rest of yesterday afternoon Mum,darc and I went for a walk halfway to the next village with Roselina and Jenny our friends. The rainforest is so beautiful and green with birds calling and tall, towering palm trees sticking up everywhere with coconut shells littering the ground. We came across a fresh/saltwater river and played in it on the way there and on the way back we went for a cool down swim at the tree (the locals call it the Buni tree).
We had a yum meal with noodles, salad and tuna fish fingers. Today Dad got up and went for ANOTHER spearfish while darc, mum and i went or a swim down at the tree and a snorkel off a jetty. When we came back dad came back with a Trevally fish (hurray!) and was determined to go out again this evening so mum and darc went for a walk to who knows where and i'm sitting here blogging.
Life is Hard ;)
bye
You paint the most amazing word pictures, Ava. I almost feel I am with you as you walk through the palms to villages and swimming places. Dad's spear fishing and subsequent gourmet meals sound amazing. Keep blogging. I want more!!!
